"Breacan Cottage" is so called because there is a holy well in one of the adjoining fields called "Tobar Breacain"(Gaelic). Holy wells are probably the oldest sacred sites in the country, being revered in the millennia before Christianity. Many of the traditions and sites of these wells have their origin in pagan times.

The house itself is a beautiful rustic cottage with panoramic sea views and is situated in the tranquil rural setting of Parkmore, Dooras, which has a pier suitable for fishing.

Local attractions include

  • Tracht beach which, is a beautiful sandy blue flag beach with picnic areas and toilet facilities.
  • The village of Kinvara - with it's charming craft shops and old style public houses and superb restaurants.
  • Dunguaire castle is one of the main attractions of Kinvara, visited by many tourists every year.
